The Odyssey™ Diode Laser from Ivoclar
Vivadent is the most user-friendly, compact, portable, and affordable soft-tissue laser for dentistry to date. Priced at only
$11,750, the Odyssey™ Diode Laser enables all dentists to acquire a state-of-the-art technology that will enable them
to expand their restorative skills and their practice like never before. And, because it’s marketed by Ivoclar Vivadent
— a name synonymous with quality products — the Odyssey™ represents another valuable tool for esthetic and
restorative dentists that is backed by unsurpassed technical and customer support.
Ease-of-Use: The
clear and concise control panel features an LED screen display that indicates whether the laser is set for Continuous or Pulse
output mode, as well as the power (Watt) setting. What’s more, the consistent wavelength output ensures smooth and clean
cutting with the laser’s fiber optic tip.
Additionally, push-button controls on the panel enable effortless input
of power setting and mode to control the laser speed, thereby ensuring precise and accurate power output for the intended
application. Combined, this simple control panel ensures a shortened learning curve for you and your staff (in states where
the Dental Practice Act does not prohibit hygienists from using lasers).
Small Footprint: Designed
to conserve your valuable counter space, the Odyssey™ Diode Laser measures 5.5” x 6.25” x 8.75”. Further, the Odyssey™ is designed for use with 110 to 120 V electricity, which is found in most
dental offices and homes.
Light weight: Weighing in at only 5.5 pounds (approximately), the Odyssey™
Diode Laser is designed to facilitate portability between different operatories.
Retractable Optical Fiber:
The innovative Odyssey™ Diode Laser features the industry’s first retractable fiber optic cord, so you’re
less likely to incur costs associated with accidental fiber breakage. This one of a kind fiber management system is contained
in an automated housing that easily dispenses the fiber to the appropriate length, so there’s no need to worry about
the cord being on the floor, where it can be rolled over and broken. With the push of a button, the cord retracts back into
the safety of its cassette.
Safety Features: The Odyssey™ Diode Laser features several ways
to stop energy flow if the operator wishes to deactivate the laser. The safety system includes a choice of an emergency shut-off
switch, a key, a power switch, a power cord, or an electrical plug. Any of these can be used to shut down the laser.
The
Odyssey™ Diode Laser has been certified to the latest safety standards applicable to medical lasers in the US and Canada
including IEC 60825, IEC 60601 and the Food and Drug Administration's Laser Performance Standard (21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11).
Protective eyewear is included with the Odyssey and all safety factors are set out in the Owner's Manual.
Useful for Various Indications:
The Odyssey™ Diode Laser can be used to perform a variety of soft-tissue procedures and preventive treatments. As a
result, you’ll be able to expand your treatment capabilities and provide your patients with better, faster and more
convenient care. Because the Odyssey™ features a laser wavelength of 810+/-20 nm — the most popular wavelength
for cosmetic dentists today — its settings are ideal for the following procedures:
• Gingivectomy, Gingivoplasy,
Operculectomy • Crown lengthening • Creating ovate pontics • Recontouring interproximal tissue •
Recovering dental implants • Treating inflammation around implants • Troughing for impressions •
Treating aphthous ulcers • Incising and draining abscesses • Removing fibroma • Biopsies •
Frenectomy • Sealing lymphatics in the surgical area • Reducing sulcular oral bacteria and other flora •
Accelerating healing of split lips • Soft tissue debridement for periodontal treatment • Treating gingival
hyperplasia
Fewer Postoperative Complications: Use of soft-tissue lasers in dentistry has proven advantageous
for many reasons. First, there is reduced incidence of bacteria and viral secondary infections. Nerves are depolarized, so
there is less post-surgical discomfort. Improved hemostasis at the surgical site helps to reduce postoperative swelling
ande to collateral tissues. Lymphatics are activated by the laser, so there is a reduced need for post-surgical dressings.
Additionally, healing is less eventful, with fewer complications or prescriptions, and medically compromised patients can
be treated more safely. | |
